The Rhino is a character from Marvel Comics. He is primarily an antagonist to Spider-Man and the Hulk.

History[]
Aleksei Sytsevich was a Russian thug who volunteered for an experimental procedure which would graft an armoured coating across his skin. The chemical treatment worked, and feeling indestructible, Aleksei turned on his superiors. Now calling himself the Rhino, he used his intense durability to freely commit petty crimes, until he was tricked and defeated by the wall crawler Spider-Man. Some time later, the Eastern Bloc Underworld once again sought to employ Aleksei, this time with gamma radiation which they believed could make him powerful enough to combat the Hulk. However, history repeated itself; with his incredible strength, he betrayed the scientists and relished his power, only to be trounced by the Green Goliath.
Although he still breaks out on criminal streaks for his own ends, the Rhino became much more of a team player from then on, leaving planning and strategy to smarter allies so long as they allowed him to do what he did best: charge and destroy. However, his low intelligence led to him getting outsmarted and defeated many times, and he eventually fell into a despondent state, giving up his life of crime. His chances at reformation, however, ended when his wife was killed, and he fell back to his criminal ways soon after.
Personality[]
Aleksei is slow and dimwitted, and can be easily fooled into running into traps or outmaneuvered in physical combat. Rather than carefully planning his conquests like most Spider-Man rogues, the Rhino tends to simply barge in and shrug off all attempts at resistance with his powers. He has absolute faith in his invulnerable skin and super strength, but underneath all of it is a heart that does feel some regret for his life choices.

- In Marvel's Ultimate Universe, the Rhino's suit is similar to an armoured mecha exoskeleton which he can don and doff as he wishes
- This format made its way to the live-action scene with its portrayal in Amazing Spider-Man 2, not that he got to use it
