History[]

Danny Rand is the son of Wendell Rand, a billionaire business tycoon who was also a martial arts master. Wendell had trained under the legendary "Iron Fist" in the lost Tibetan city of K'un-Lun, and longed to return there with his family; however, on their journey, he was betrayed and killed by his business partner. A now-orphaned Danny was taken in by K'un-Lun, and spent the next decade undergoing the same intense martial arts training that his father had before him. Driven by a desire to take revenge, Danny surpassed all expectations, and successfully completed an ancient mythical ritual that imbued his body's spiritual energy with that of an ancient Dragon's. With his repertoire of fighting skills and unmatched prowess with chi, Danny emerged from K'un-Lun ten years later as the newest "Iron Fist".

While using his inherited fortune to help the poor and downtrodden with his public face, Danny also moonlighted as a superhero to fight crime. Though newfound personal morals stopped him from taking revenge on his father's killer, Rand still retained his sense of justice and a burning desire to help out as much as he could. Thus, when he befriended the superhero "Power Man", the two formed a team called the "Heroes for Hire". Danny Rand and Luke Cage would remain best friends for years afterwards, and even join teams together such as the Defenders, and even the Avengers.

After some time, Danny was approached by a fellow fighter who gifted him the "Book of the Iron Fist", a mysterious ledger that contained the secrets and histories of every title holder before him. After repelling the threats of eight ancient cities of heaven, as well as battling the fallen first Iron Fist, Danny became the "Immortal Iron Fist", embracing his powers to the fullest.

Personality[]

Danny Rand is a powerful martial artist who is fully aware of his talents; while not cocky to an extreme degree, he prefers to give opponents fair warning about his skills, and will gladly demonstrate them if they refuse to back down. He is well-versed in dozens of fighting styles, and will pick and choose one that fits depending on his opponent's strengths and weaknesses; against fellow martial artists, he also enjoys holding back and testing their skills, preferring not to go all-out both for his enemy's sake and to minimize collateral damage.

Iron Fist is incredibly altruistic, and does everything he can to help those in need from fighting invading armies to operating non-profit aid centers with his company. He has also befriended and aided several heroes in the Marvel Universe, and used his connections to K'Un Lun to act as an ambassador with Black Panther and Namor. At one point, he also took up the identity of Daredevil to help keep his identity as Matt Murdock a secret, even willingly getting arrested during the Civil War to maintain this façade.
