History[]

When a trainer in the Kanto region first begins their Pokémon journey, they may choose the water-type Squirtle as their starter Pokémon. Squirtle may evolve into the feisty Wartortle, and at the end of the road, Wartortle may evolve into the proud Shellfish Pokémon Blastoise. If a trainer has a particularly strong bond with this Pokémon, and has a Blastoisinite on hand, it can further evolve into Mega Blastoise. In the Galar region, it is even capable of evolving into a Gigantamax form, towering like a fortress over the battlefield.

Blastoise have notably been the ace Pokémon of the likes of trainers Blue and Gary, often competing against their rival's Charizard. One Blastoise also rules over an island of Squirtle and Wartortle, but when a Jigglypuff became stuck in one of its cannons, the entire island's population drifted off to sleep.

Personality[]

Most Pokémon take off after their trainers in terms of personality, but in general, Blastoise are proud Pokémon; while not as hot-blooded or fight-ready as Charizard, they boast incredible defense, and never back down from a challenge. They frequently employ their unique cannons in combat, intentionally gaining weight to better resist the recoil of their own attacks. While excellent with sniping under normal circumstances, a Gigantamax Blastoise has over 30 cannons equipped, and prefers to fire in all directions at once.

Blastoise also rely on their shells, retreating into them for defense or using their bulk to crush opponents.
